Each year in Piazza Santa Croce, the historic football games pit the four quarters of the city against each other in an anarchic, violent game that celebrates the last days of the Republic in 1527. This annual game is the precursor to today’s rugby and soccer, passionately fought to hold bragging rights over the city by one of those four quarters: San Giovanni (the Greens), Santa Croce (the Blues), Santa Spirito (the Whites), and Santa Maria Novella (the Reds). Idanna and Terence field produced this film in 1992. x
